Se trata de la orquídea joya o Ludisia discolor (Ker Gawl.) A.Rich., es originaria del sudeste de Asia y China, es única en su género y de hábito terrestre. Su principal atractivo está en las hojas que son de aspecto aterciopelado, de diversos tonos de verde rojizo con venas coloreadas de color gris plateado y anaranjado. Produce grupos de flores blancas de penetrante fragancia, pequeñas y abundantes. La floración dura de 2 a 3 semanas.

¿Cómo cultivarla?

Al ser su hábitat natural el bosque sombrío, la Ludisia discolor se puede tener en ambientes de semisombra, Si las hojas se aclaran hasta un color rojizo pálido, indica que está recibiendo demasiada luz. La maceta debe contener 50% de suelo abonado para orquídea y 50% cortezas de árboles, húmedo y bien drenado.
