Big or small, with or without roots...we always want our tree to be the best one!

1. Size: depend on the space where you're going to settle it. If it is possible measure the height and width of the area were you are planning to place it. Look at the area before you leave home, because when you get to the place of sale, the amount of trees and their size of all of them will make you lose some sense of space and perspective.

2. Would you throw it away or sow it? The answer to this question also depends on the characteristics of the tree you're buying, because if you are going to replant it, you must choose a younger tree with roots at its base covered by a good amount of soil, thin order to prevent the roots from drying and to help after replanting. The survival rate is low, however, maintain soil moisture  and roots firmly fastened to the soil is important.
If you're going to throw it, simply choose a tree with a cut edge, without roots.

3. Freshness:  at the nursery, vigorously shake the tree and see if it does not lose leaves. Branches must be flexible and of a bright green.

4. Species: all these trees are commonly called Christmas trees, however, from the botanical point of view there are several species of Gymnosperms. In the following pictures some species. Some have closed and erect branches, others more open.

5. Maintenance: If the tree has no roots, placed it on a base with a reservoir for water to keep it fresh.

6. At the moment of decorating: you must take into account the length of the branches, especially  if they are very long do not over charge them with a lot of weight since because when dehydrated branches will tend to fall losing their beauty. Some lights produce heat that dehydrates the leaves and cause them to start falling early, so I recommend placing the lights near the stem and decoration, in this way heat will not affect leaves.
7. At the time of discard the tree or recycle it: just take away the ornaments and put the tree to one side of the garden because a special service will pick it up. Do not throw it in trash containers.
